Figure Study 001 - Children of the Soft Machine

This study shows the model in two seperate poses. Both are of the upper torso. The shape on the top is a back view of the models right arm, extended. The shape below is a profile of the models left upper arm/shoulder/chest.

One of a series of figure studies I've begun doing this year (2006) which I am calling "Children of the Soft Machine". Yes it's far from traditional figure drawings. I sometimes find that when I'm drawing the figure and trying to get all of the little details right and the exact proportions, etc, I get frustrated. In my opinion creating Art is not about being frustrated. So I take a step back, relax, and begin again from the shoulder with soft, wide, smooth lines, and then the Children of the Soft Machine are born.
